i don't know exactly. I think it's a reference to ''new'' bands who imitate other bands (Nirvana) too much or something... i read that somewhere. But Station to Station is also a David Bowie album.

mmm....if I take it in context...
"Space may be the final frontier But it's made in a Hollywood basement Cobain can you hear the spheres Singing songs off station to station" I could understand it's a reference to fakeness, to pettiness...but not Cobain's pettiness, sice there's an interesting parallel to be drawn between the two pairs of terms: space-Cobain and basemet-songs... So what I understand is that they're saying somethineg like "there, Cobain did real music and now everyone's either imitating or a fake." donno...that's how i look at it...

yeah, I know
One could see that also in the tribute paid in the song from the present album..fdon't remember the name..where they make a retrospective of all the great rock stars in music, among which Nirvana and Kurt. It's weird that so many Nirvana fans saw that as an offense...
